Course Overview

This course has been designed and developed with the assistance of a range of local employers to ensure it meets the needs of the region. This course will equip you with the knowledge to become a Civil Engineer or Asset Manager (as identified within the Government’s Nuclear Skills Strategy Document).

The need for Civil Engineers is an urgent requirement particularly within the new infrastructure projects across the country which include new home building projects, nuclear power new build, high speed rail and numerous renewable energy projects. In addition there is also a requirement to asset manage existing legacy buildings across the sector.

Entry Requirement

All students will be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course. 2 years of post-16 study will demonstrate the capacity to benefit from the course. A relevant Foundation or HND qualification will also be accepted. Learners can be supported by a Level 5 bridging course where appropriate.

Progression

The course provides opportunities to progress and upskill from civil technician to civil engineer level whilst also covering the knowledge based requirement of the Level 6 Nuclear Engineer Standard. The course will also provide opportunities for students to register as Incorporated and Chartered Civil Engineers.
