This course has been designed to provide a combination of extensive practical work supported by academic studies with a unique experience within the National College for Nuclear Northern Hub. The aim of the programme is to provide work ready engineers with the relevant skills, knowledge and behaviours to work within a highly technical environment.
This degree is designed for individuals who may be looking to progress and top-up from an existing Level 5 engineering qualification to a Level 6 Honours Degree. The course has also been designed to provide a sector jumping opportunity. It provides an in-depth study of various power systems, preparing students to enter or develop into Engineer Level within the power industry. The course has also been designed in conjunction with the Level 6 Nuclear Degree Apprenticeship standard.
You will study a range of modules, including:
A HND or Foundation Degree in Engineering, or an equivalent Level 5 qualification.
Upon successful completion of this degree, students can move into challenging and exciting careers in power distribution, power generation, electrical design engineering and industrial process control and automation. The qualification also provides an opportunity to apply for registration with relevant professional institutes.
You could also carry on into a career in research and teaching, or study for Master’s Degree within a related field.
