An introduction to NCfN

The UK Government is prioritising skills training for the nuclear sector with the creation of the flagship National College for Nuclear (NCfN).

NCfN has developed and is delivering the UK's nuclear curriculum, designing new qualifications and training courses that are attractive to learners and meet the demand for highly-skilled workers in the nuclear sector. It also offers courses designed by employers for a range of highly-specialised careers. Sellafield Ltd and EDF Energy have led industry input into the nuclear college, working alongside Lakes and Bridgwater & Taunton Colleges, plus higher education providers, University of Cumbria, University of Bristol and University Centre Somerset.

What’s special about NCfN?

At the heart of the National College for Nuclear is a commitment to collaborate with industry, bringing together our expertise and ensuring it is embedded at every stage of our training and education, so learners are fully-equipped for jobs and skills needs.

Our approach to training and teaching delivery is hands-on and innovative. Such immersion in practical assignments is the key to success in a training context. Augmented by technical instruction and academic assessment, the result is technical professionals who are accustomed to industry processes, protocols and behaviours.
