Course Overview

The course is a level 3 qualification which is equivalent to 1 A levels. It is a vocational science qualification that provides an extended coverage of chemistry. It provides a progression pathway to Higher Education.

You’ll study the intricacies of this fascinating subject through a combination of academic learning and practical experiments in our new state-of-the-art chemistry labs, and gain the knowledge you need to kick start your dream career today.

Studying science can open up a world of new discoveries and possibilities, leading to diverse careers in chemistry – such as biomedical, nuclear or environmental. As part of this course you’ll study modules including: Principles and Applications of Science Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques Science Investigation Skills Laboratory Techniques and their Applications.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English, maths and science. All offers will be subject to successful interview.

Progression

Studying Applied Science at Lakes College will set you up for a number of different progression opportunities… from progressing to the Foundation Degree in Applied Chemistry at Lakes College or other universities (which then can lead on to an Honours Degree) Our courses will also set you up for a career in any field of science including biomedical and forensics or even teaching.
